Read more about tax incentives...

Federal, state, and municipal governments, along with many utility companies, are offering incentives to homeowners who install new or upgraded material and equipment that meet efficiency requirements. There has never been a time like now, when so much support is available for homeowners to not only save money using efficient renewable energy systems, but to be rewarded for installing them.

We want everyone to be aware of these incentives and understand how to benefit from them. As you consider what to install, be sure to calculate all the incentives when totaling the purchase price. As you well know, the price you pay for an appliance, for example, has two parts – what you pay for it and the cost of using it. Current tax incentives and rebates address both of these costs. With the final tally, you might be surprised at what you can afford.

The chart below is an example of a local utility’s rebates for major appliances and lighting. Gunnison, Colorado is a great example of a smaller community with good rebates. You don’t have to live in a largely populated area to benefit from energy efficiency rebates.

Quality Energy Star Appliance Purchase Price Example of Local Utilities Rebate - Colorado - Gunnison County Electric
Refrigerator $400-$3000 $60 rebate plus $40 recycling rebate
